I just read chapter nine in the book Why
School? and it definitely brings about an interesting point. The quote I chose
was, “The overlap of secondary and higher education has been, and remains,
necessary in an open, if flawed, educational system.” I agree with this
statement. Though I complain all the time about why in the world I have to take
two different history classes when they have NOTHING to do with nutrition, I
think that it is necessary for students to be required to take core curriculum
classes, if not just because it make them a more intelligently rounded individual.
