So, after knocking out my rough draft last night in about
two hours I’m thinking I’ve got a lot of rewriting to do before my conference
on Wednesday. Woohooo rough draft number two get at me!
But in all seriousness, the two drafts I read in class today were really good and definitely pointed
out important problems in society. The idea of writing about a belief I possess kind
of intimidated me at first. I had a tough time choosing a topic because trying
to find an experience to use as an example started getting really personal… and
I’m not really one to weep to others about my rough experiences haha sorry! Anyways, I
finally ended up landing on the idea of judging people too quickly before you
even get to know them. I think it’s something we all do far too often.
Dietrich
Bonhoeffer once said, “Judging
others makes us blind, whereas love is illuminating. By judging others we blind
ourselves to our own evil and to the grace which others are just as entitled to
as we are.”
I think that sums it up pretty well. Judging others ultimately
hurts no one but us and takes away from the grace we could possess.
I wrote mine last night too haha. I didn't use any personal examples, but I really don't want to either. Oh well. I guess the grade is more important..Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI totally wrote mine last night too and I just was not impressed with my writing. It was just a combination of stress and tiredness that made it come out not exactly how I wanted. I still have a million things I need to include, but I was just trying to throw my ideas out there because it was just a rough draft. Good thing we have a little bit more time now to put it together really well.
